Millikin PTA

What is PTA?

Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit association represented by parents, teachers, and school. Our primary goal is to make school a better place for children to learn. We help organize multiple fun and educational events throughout the school year with the help of parent volunteers, teachers, and school staff.

Presidents Corner

Dear Millikin Families,

Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year! I hope you had a wonderful summer break. I am Rama Chittory, your PTA president. If this is your first time at Millikin, I would like to extend a warm welcome to your family. My family started at Millikin in 2019 when my child was in kindergarten. At Millikin, we found much more than a great school; we became a part of a dedicated COMMUNITY of teachers, staff, parents, and students that opened its arms to us. To know more about me, I was a part of the School site council for two years. I was in PTA for the last three years, where I used to play multiple roles like secretary, 3rd VP. Apart from my volunteer part in the school, I also served as a DAC member and DELAC member, where I used to represent our school in the SCUSD. Serving over there, I learned a lot about how and what our school and district do together. I love cooking, crocheting and spending time with kids. I love to crochet blankets and hats to give away to those in need in my spare time. Over the last few years, I donated around 50 crochet blankets to newborn babies.

PTA is critical in collaboration and communication between school parents and teachers. PTA organizes events such as spring festival, book fair, and movie night, where we try to bring the teachers, students, principal, and parents under one roof and try to make the event successful. Having the right people playing the right roles is important in the successful functioning of this PTA.

I have a few ideas to take our PTA to newer heights by bringing more transparency, providing an open floor for new ideas and being a true bridge between parents, teachers, principal and school on any events and issues. I also want to show how we as a team can bring back beautiful events that we could not execute for the last two years because of the pandemic.

Millikin PTA is an integral part of this school community.

Thank you,

Rama Chittory.
